Social Radio

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

“Equal access to social rich media is required for social radio to work. We live in one world, and it’s getting smaller.”

Brian Greene (partner at doop.ie) and blip.fm ambassador is a avid fan of social radio. Here he is interviewed by Pete Dulin for the blog BlipNation.

Dulin: What does this phrase, “people controlled radio,” mean to you?

BrianGreene: “People controlled radio” is radio that we the listeners control. Radio by the people, for the people. Radio has been in the hands of the governments and the regulators and the corporations and the advertising departments for 100 years. Now we have passed the point in needing anyone but ourselves to programme our radio needs. And I don’t just mean music; documentaries, news, comment, and chat, we can share it all on social radio platforms, and Blip.FM is the truest form of social radio that I have yet seen.

Bolton Trust Redesign and CMS

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The Bolton Trust are an organisation that promote new business enterprises in Ireland.  Having previously designed their website, doop recently freshened up the site’s design as well as implementing wordpress cms in the back-end to allow them to update their ‘news’ section themselves. This worked so well that they came back to us asking for the entire site to be updateable using the same wordpress install. This involved rebuilding the code within wordpress whilst maintaining the original handcoded design.

Online payment system for Tattersalls

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Tattersalls Entry Payments Page

In July 2009 doop were contracted to build an online payments system for Tattersalls Ireland Limited.

Tattersalls bloodstock auctioneers hold 7 auctions per annum over 21 days selling 1000’s of lots from their complex in Ratoath, Co.Meath. Traditionally vendors selling lots would pay entry fees of lots at the sale by cheque. The ability to pay entry fees online would provide an alternative payment method for vendors.

Doop developed a bespoke entry system that captured all required details for multiple lots with a payments gateway to allow for the secure payment of the entry fees by credit card.

The business implication of this installation for Tattersalls means that vendors have more control and access to payments and entries. Also the system has been so successful Tattersalls now see 60% of entry fees are now paid online and this figure is growing with each sale.

The hidden benefit of this move to online payments is that Tattersalls have been able to shift payment terms from invoicing to upfront payments which, as any business knows this assists greatly with cash flow. Such is the volume of transactions through the new system, the company have been able to negotiate better gateway fees and are further driving down the cost of taking online payments.

There is of course a cultural shift in such systems, but satisfaction among vendors with the new payments method is universal.
